My Experience with the Putrims K12

Packaging and Setting Up

The K12 came well packaged in a decent box which always bodes well for me. The projector is fairly light and easy to set up with regards to focus and keystone adjustments. This makes it highly portable if using outdoors or on location.

The instructions for setting up Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Google TV are self-explanatory and quick to do.

Image Quality

Putrims K12 1080 HD Projector Image Quality

Having been a photographer and videographer for many years, my biggest thing is image quality. The Putrims K12 throws out a stunning 1080HD projection, with support from 4K video, and is crisp, clear and superb.

You can get the unit fairly close to a wall but it is made for large scale projection. We played movies, music videos and, to my sons enjoyment, Xbox games on our large living room wall. What a great experience.

Audio

The built-in 20W speaker is good enough for basic TV or home videos but if you want that cinema feel to your movies or music, I highly recommend an external sound bar or speaker. Adding external audio couldn't be easier whether that is a wired 3.5mm speaker connection through the back or via Bluetooth.

Navigating the Menu and Remote

Putrims K12 Remote

I was impressed with how little time it took to get used to the menu system. The remote is sturdy (takes Triple AAA batteries), reliable and the signal is good. However, don't lose it as there is no other way to control the projector.

The voice command worked flawlessly for me when using Google TV but as always, annunciate clearly : )

Putrims K12 Smart Projector

The K12 is not perfect but it comes pretty close for what I need

Pros

  • Superb image quality
  • Autofocus and auto keystone
  • Easy to set up
  • Google TV built-in with Disney, Netflix, Prime etc
  • Decent audio from built-in 20W speaker
  • Bright and fairly quiet
  • Stays cool with good fans
  • Voice control
  • Light and portable

Cons

  • No ceiling bracket included
  • No control from projector, only remote and voice
  • Height adjuster screw will come out if turned too far
  • Would like to see a standard tripod thread mount (1/4"-20) for more mounting options

Conclusion:

I am by no means a projector expert but for what I need as a media professional, this projector ticks all the boxes, with the main box being image quality. The picture from the Putrims K12 is stunning in both a fairly well lit room to a dark environment with good quality backdrop/screen.

For the price, this is a great product whether you like the cinema movie experience at home or the professional look when presenting or teaching large groups.

Hi, just purchased this and would like to know how far back this needs to be on a ceiling mount with a 100 inch screen
    Thanks
    Nick

    • Hi. I’m not sure but mine was about 14ft away from our living room wall and projected an image of about 140″. So maybe 10ft away for a 100″ screen?
