The Rebel with a Cause, for Concern!
Product Advisory for 650D. Canon Inc has today issued an alert to owners of the Rebel T4i/EOS 650D. Apparently, the rubberised hand grips of some models could turn white and produce a chemical.
This chemical is zinc bis (N,N’-dimethyldithiocarbamate) that may cause an allergic reaction.
According to Canon, this chemical is not actually used in the production of the camera. However, it could be produced via a chemical reaction between some other substances found in the Camera's hand-grip.
Cause for concern?
Should we be overly concerned with this announcement and alert? Are Canon just covering themselves in the unlikely event that somebody falls in due to this chemical?
Personally, I am against chemicals of any sort in my life. I do my best to avoid them wherever possible so this does concern me a little.
- 1What about all their other DSLR's like the ones I use?
- 2Are these safe and chemical free?
- 3What are Canon doing to address this?
- 4No recall? Can't be that serious.
- 5What if in a few years someone has problems. Will they relate it back to this?
I guess we will just have to wait and see what Canon does from now. When we hear anything, we will let you know so be sure to sign up to our newsletter. For more information, go to Canon's official announcement web page below.
