Just how far do you want to take this photography thing? Think about it…
Are you planning your future with photography playing a leading role? From what I see and hear, there are many people who have started out with digital photography who want more. Some are now thinking it would be great to move forward and are now maybe thinking:
"Hey, I love this…maybe I could make some money from it or jack my job in and go full time"?
Absolutely and why not?
You know, there really is nothing to fear when making huge life-changing decisions. As long as you have some sort of back up plan, what is the worst that could happen?
If you really do have the desire to start your own photography business, go somewhere quite, sit down and just think. Imagine.
What would happen if it didn't work out? At what point could you say "nope, not working" and still have enough money to see you through? At least until you got a new job or found other work? Once you know that time-frame, you can get to work.
Now imagine life as a professional photographer
How would you spend your days?
You see I threw those last few in because to work from home (alone in most cases) you are going to need a large dose of motivation to get things done.
When you don't have a boss breathing down your neck, it is easy to become complacent. The previous paragraph on it "not working out" should suffice if you have established a time frame and stick to it.
You NEED that fear inside you as a driving force to make it work which is why there is NEVER a perfect time to start. You will never have "everything in place". One of the best ways to get moving is to have a plan of action and then visualise it.
Looking forward and imagining yourself in a different life, and doing it for long enough, is an incredibly powerful force as you program your subconscious to EXPECT it to happen.
