Why is my wallet twitching again?
Update July 2021: Please note that this product is now discontinued, hence the main image being the Osmo Smartphone stabiliser. You may get one on eBay but why not check out the DJI store for the latest Osmo Products.
Introducing the "DJI Osmo"
What's in a name, this looks very cool indeed and great for film-makers everywhere. If you are into photography and/or film-making, watch this video and tell me you don't want the DJI Osmo. A reply to that is not necessary...and Smartphone is not included : )
There is one particularly great thing about this unit...for DJI Inspire 1 owners anyway. It is compatible with all their Inspire camera/gimbal systems (X3/X5/X5 Raw).
However, it seems that it is not possible to buy the unit without the X3 camera "for now".
This is a shame because I already have the Inspire 1 with X3 camera. I have ordered the new M43 X5 too so I absolutely don't need the camera.
I spoke with DJI whilst writing this and was told that the base will more than likely become available as a stand-alone product but she wasn't sure when.
Sooner rather than later I hope because there are MANY Inspire 1 owners that would jump at this if it was stand-alone (and cheaper). The only thing I can see is that the new X3 camera for this gimbal has a slightly different design. It is made especially for the Osmo and its workings…we shall see.
So, here are the basic specs etc:

Handy Accessories for the DJI Osmo
All in all, and without testing or using one, the DJI Osmo looks superb. Ground-breaking, money-saving, lighter, more useful and an easier way to create stunning footage.
You only have to go back 5 years or so to realise that back then it would cost thousands of pounds for a huge stabilizing video system that was clunky, heavy and very intrusive. This is absolutely perfect (and upgradeable) for:
It is so small and handy you can take it everywhere. I just can't keep up with all this technology. For sure, it is fast becoming a hell of a lot easier to make great videos with super-easy access to all manner of places using drones, gimbals, 4K video. Exciting times!
