Are you shy when photographing people? What can you do about it?
Post Updated January 2018: Do you intend to photograph people either as your hobby or as part of your business plan? If so it can be quite daunting if you have no confidence in your photography and/or yourself.
The thought of being "in the spotlight" is bad enough but then having to control people and tell them what to do! Can be pretty tough for some people…
So how can you get over it?
Just do it.
Everything is hard when you first attempt it. Remember when as a kid you tried riding a bike without stabilisers for the first time. How scary was that?
What about when you first got behind the wheel of a car? Not only did you have to worry about what you saw through the windscreen but you had to contend with:
Quite daunting but I bet you simply get in your car now and it feels natural?
It is the same with photography. Some aspects of photography can be daunting at first but once you have photographed people a few times (and realise they are just like you in most instances). It gets easier.
In fact it even becomes enjoyable and you end up making new friends
The only way to get over any fears or apprehension is to get out there and crack on. Get out of your comfort zone, face your fears head on and deal with it as you go.
Read below about a time when I took myself well and truly out of my comfort zone and into a world of panic. Right up to the point where the wedding started.
