Radiation Sickness Anyone? Canon Rebel T4i
We blogged about this issue with the 650D (European version of the camera) on July 10th. Now, Canon have revised their announcement for the north American Canon Rebel T4i so here we go again.
Is it just me or does it seem like Canon are panicking about this a little too much? This recall comes about after just one person complains of a "minor" rash after using the camera!
It is understandable after the troubles they have had with the Fukushima Nuclear plant (if that is the underlying reason). Perhaps some materials were contaminated. They say it is caused by zinc bis N,N'-dimethyldithiocarbamate. However, is this taking health and safety too far?
Is this for real?
Should they have waited and done more testing before this recall? Have YOU experienced a rash after using this camera? Maybe this one incident was due to something other than the rubberised grips?
I know that if I had just bought one of these and had no problems, I would still feel inclined to send it back. Seems like this would actually cause more irritation than a simple rash. Still, it is better safe than sorry under the circumstances I suppose!
Therefore, here is the low-down lottery of which cameras need to be returned. First of all, see if you are one of the lucky 68,200 before sending your camera back:
