Can the Phantom 2 or Zenmuse H3 3D gimbal charge the Go Pro battery in flight?
Being new to flying UAV's, I was worried about the battery life of the Go Pro HD Hero 4. Especially whilst out flying and filming with the DJI Phantom 2.
I have spare batteries for the Phantom 2 meaning I could fly for an hour or more. However, the Go Pro, with a run time of around 50-60 minutes or less won't always last that long. Especially at higher frame rates etc so it is a pain to remove once installed into the Zenmuse H3 3D gimbal.
This also makes battery changes difficult and lengthy.
After my flying for around 50 minutes, I noticed that the Go Pro HD Hero 4's battery was still full. This was whilst filming at various resolutions from 1080p HD to 4K video, I was surprised.
The connector from the Zenmuse gimbal to enable video link etc goes into the USB port of the Go Pro. This is where you normally charge the camera so I guess this also charges the Go Pro in flight from the battery of the DJI Phantom 2!
This is a big deal for me because having to take off the Go Pro just to replace the battery would have been a real pain. Happy days.
