Where Did The Time Go?

Time Flies When You’re Having Fun…

I can’t believe it has been about 10 weeks since I posted on the blog, I have been so busy over the past few months that time seems to have slipped away from me.

Since March I have been involved in so many shoots, meetings, courses and what seems like a million emails I just haven’t had the time to post. Time to rectify that.

In March, I did a great photo shoot at Brewers Quay in Weymouth of a Guinness World Record attempt.

Where Did The Time Go

A local jigsaw maker, Dave Evans, was attempting to create the world’s largest handmade jigsaw…a picture of around 40,000 pieces! However, this was no ordinary picture, it was a collage of images taken by amateur and professional photographers around the UK during the Queens’ Diamond Jubilee year.

I photographed and videoed the first cut along with TV crews from the BBC and ITV and the whole event, from the first cut to the last was streamed live on the internet (this was to prove the absolute making of this project as you will see in a minute)!

Here are some images and a short video from that first cut:

The next time I saw Dave was the main opening event with a lot more people attending and a lot more publicity…after all, the finished product was to be displayed in Sandrinhgam Estate, the country retreat of our Queen and Royal Family!

I took a lot more photos this time:

…and then…DISASTER!

40,000 Piece World Record Jigsaw Completed and Then Collapses!

Luckily, Dave and a team of volunteers put the jigsaw back together again (possibly another world record right there). However, as the collapse was streamed live and recorded on the internet, the views for that video went from a few hundred to well over 100,000 in a matter of days. Great publicity for the whole event and this was not a PR stunt.

The jigsaw finally made it to Sandringham on time:

All’s well that end’s well and a job well done all round…
