Cameras New Releases Product Reviews By Nick / 5th April 2016 Share Tweet Share Sony Cyber-Shot RX10 IIIA bridge camera too far? Not in this case!Post updated January 2018: Introducing the Sony Cyber-Shot RX10 III with a newly-developed, extended, super-telephoto zoom lens. A lens that covers a whopping 24-600mm!The Cyber-Shot RX10 III at first glance appears to be a real winner in terms of specs, durability and wow factor. It has a lot of features you can get in interchangeable lens cameras but I could be persuaded to go for a bridge like this. This camera is quite something and would be a brilliant walk-around camera or even a back up or B camera to your professional workflow. Whether you shoot stills or video, the Sony RX10 III has you covered with some impressive features.Sony Cyber-Shot RX10 III - Main Specificationscheck Sensor: 20.1MP 1" Exmor RS BSI CMOScheck Image Processor: BIONZ Xcheck Lens: Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* f/2.4-4 Zoomcheck 35mm Equivalent: 24-600mmcheck EVF: 2.36m-Dot OLED Tru-Findercheck LCD: 3.0" 1.228m-Dot Tilting Xtra Finecheck Video: UHD 4K30 Video, Full HD 1080p at 960 fps!check Connection: Built-In Wi-Fi with NFCcheck Image Stabilization: Optical SteadyShotcheck Other: ISO 12800 and 14 fps Continuous ShootingFor me the appearance is not bad. However, its bulk makes it not far off a full frame DSLR with telephoto lens attached when extended out. Also, the edges are a little too "sharp" for my liking but again, I could get over that. What I do like is the simple interface with minimal "fuss and nonsense" on the dials and casing. Everything is where it should be including a nice zoom rocker near the shutter button and accessory ports for externals mics and headphones. But oh, that 24-600mm lens! With a range of 24-600mm (the widest among RX series cameras), you would only need one camera in your bag for a host of activities:check Vacationcheck Sportscheck Videocheck Familycheck Weddings even…Lens Specscheck The widest zoom range among Sony RX series camerascheck Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens has a 24-600mm focal length with f2.4-4 large aperturecheck Superb 25x optical magnification super-telephoto zoom lenscheck 8 ED glass lens elements including 1 super ED glass element and 2 ED aspherical lensescheck Minimum focusing distance of just 3 cm or 72 cm at 600mm (0.49x max magnification)check Zeiss T coating for minimal flare and ghostingcheck Triple lens rings for zoom, focus and aperture - all operable on the side of the lensCamera Specscheck 20.1MP 1.0-type stacked CMOS image sensor with DRAM chip and BIONZ X processor with front-end LSIcheck 0.39-type XGA OLED Tru-Findercheck ISO range from 64 to 12,800check 9-blade aperture for soft and attractive bokehcheck Optical SteadyShot delivers up to 4.5 stops of image stabilisationcheck Silent shutter optioncheck Shutter speeds of up to 1/32,000 of a second...wow!check Continuous shooting up to 14fps with autofocus capability up to 5fpsVideo Specscheck 4K video (100mbps) in the XAVC S format with full pixel readout and zero pixel binningcheck Extensive video functionscheck Ultra telephoto super slow motion (up to 40x) recording at up to 960fpscheck Super-fast 0.09 second auto-focusing with spatial detection algorithmcheck Focus hold button on the lens barrel locks focus distance and is assignable as a custom function buttoncheck S-Log2 gamma curvecheck Zebrascheck Gamma Display AssistSony RX10 III Sample Videos: Slow Motion Samples (Don't expect super high quality HD video when using this mode) Price: £1,250 Buy/Read Reviews from Amazon USA Buy/Read Reviews from Amazon UK This post contains affiliate links.
