Having lived in Spain for over 8 years and having got married here myself, I can only advise you to think seriously about getting help. I am a professional wedding photographer here on the Costa del Sol and I have seen and attended many weddings in Spain, and from my experience, the ones that go the smoothest are the ones that are best organised. There are numerous things to consider other than the obvious legal licences and paperwork; things such as venues, photographers : ) , suppliers, churches, priests/vicars/officials and transportation. If you don't live in Spain, using wedding planners and organisers on the Costa del Sol will make your day go as smoothly as you would want. Trying to organise an event of any size from a distance causes stress and anxiety on the lead up to your big day. Even if you already live here, it is advisable to have someone do the donkey work for you whilst you concentrate on the finer, more enjoyable details such as your guests, your dress and planning your honeymoon. So how do you choose? I have met and worked with many wedding planners and organisers on the Costa del Sol, some good, some bad, some I would never deal with again. Being a wedding photographer, I work very closely with the wedding couples and I receive a lot of feedback about everything. I have attended weddings where the wrong, or no music was played at the start of the wedding. I have seen entire choirs not turn up at the church and even seen the wrong cars and menus being laid on. In all fairness, many of the planners here are excellent and work hard but there is only one company I have worked with who regularly produce the right goods on time, efficiently, with the utmost professionalism and most importantly with a great big smile on their faces. They also don't get too "involved" on the day but are always there in the background ensuring everything runs smoothly or are there if you need them. This is particularly important to me as many times the wedding planners have been "in the shot" on many important photographs at times when I am unable to intervene….very annoying.
