Wedding Photography Gallery - Image 7
Canon EOS 5D - 100th/sec - F7.1 - ISO 160 - Manual - Natural One of my favourite times of the wedding day is when the bride and bridesmaids are getting ready. You generally have time to experiment and have a little fun whilst everyone is running around and panicking. As I am usually in the same place for a while, I switch to manual exposure with bounced flash as I know each exposure will be the same give or take...and I let the speedlights sensor (E-TTL) work out the power output. If the room is of an average size with fairly low ceiling, I know that my settings above will generally give good results with bounced flash set to FEC +2 or 3 (Flash Exposure Compensation). This little flower girl was getting bored and started jumping on the hotel room bed. I was trying to follow her around with the lens set to 70mm as not to get too close and ended up with this shot. Luckily the white of the sheets gave the perfect backdrop for this portrait and also added some nice catchlights to the eyes. Very little post-processing was needed.
