Wedding Photographer on the Costa del Sol

As a licensed, professional wedding photographer on the Costa del Sol coming from the UK, the one thing that really stands out and makes my job easier is the weather! It is very rare to get a "wet wedding" out here in Spain let alone a cloudy one. This in itself makes my job all that more of a pleasure as it generally puts a smile on everyone's face!

Areas along the coast covered for wedding photography are everywhere between Malaga and Sotogrande including Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Marbella, Puerto Banus, Nueva Andalucia, San Pedro, Estepona, Duquesa, Sotogrande and inland areas.

I am more than willing to travel further afield conditions permitting and have shot weddings in Granada, Lake Viñuela, Casares, Ronda, Gaucin, Gibraltar as well as London and Tuscany in Italy. I am also shooting weddings in Dorset for 2010...Weymouth, Bournemouth, Dorchester and Poole etc.

From the minute I have been booked to photograph a wedding I kick into gear. As I explain to any new wedding photographers, the most important thing with wedding photography is the preparation.

Wedding Photographer on the Costa del Sol - Preparation

Once booked I will;

• Visit the couple 1-2 months before the wedding to go through photographs required, meet immediate members of the family and bridal party and discuss any special needs.


• Double check all information regarding the church, reception venue, addresses and times.


• 1 week before the wedding I do a complete dry run from the house in which the bride will leave, to the church and on to the reception using the exact times in order to assess the lighting and traffic.


• I will, on the way, check for suitable and special areas where group shots and individual "special" shots can be taken.

The style in which I shoot a wedding is a mixture of traditional with a more modern "reportage" style. In other words, I will capture the day as I see it with the important set-up shots taken as and when it is suitable.

I try not to interfere or get in the way and basically just get on with the job.

I like to "over-deliver" and capture as much as I can from the day including (if required) the following;

• Bride and parents/bridal party getting ready at house
• Bride leaving the house
• Groom and best man waiting at church
• Arrival of the bride
• Service
• Leaving church and confetti shots
• Special location shots with the couple
• Reception including toasts, cutting of the cake, first dance and speeches

Obviously there are many more including family groups and children etc, but these are the basics. Along the way I will capture the more reportage style shots such as guests waiting, arriving, drinking, chatting, laughing and general "as they happen" shots.

I shoot entirely digital using high end professional equipment. The images are of the highest quality and will easily print up to A1 or 34 inches on the longest edge with exceptional clarity.

Once the images have been taken, I spend whatever time it takes per image to ensure that they are bright, crisp, clean and colourful. Any bits of rubbish or unwanted artefacts such as cranes or litter are professionally and unnoticeably removed to make the best of the shot.

All images are available in either Colour or black and white. Any special requirements such as sepia toning, montages or anything that your creative side desires can be done on request.

Prices vary as each wedding is different. I have photographed anything from a one hour blessing on a catamaran to a full 3 days in Tuscany, Italy.

As a general guide;

For a full day from the bride getting ready to well into the reception (8-10 hours) - €2,195. Extra hours at €75 per hour

This will include;

• 8-10 hours photography
• Bride and Bridal party getting ready at home
• Groom, best man and guests arriving at church
• Bride arriving at church
• Ceremony
• Group shots and reportage style shots of guests and wedding party
• "Somewhere special" where we take the bride and groom and /or wedding party somewhere for some more intimate photographs
• Cutting of cake, speeches and first dance
• Evening reception in full swing
• 40 prints at 9" x 6" or similar
• DVD Slideshow of approximately 80 images with music hosted online to show absent family or friends (Hard copies available for TV and computer viewing)
• Digital imaging of every file to remove stains, litter etc
• Approximately 300+ low resolution images/proofs in colour and black and white (600 in total)
• Plus all images on DVD at high resolution in both colour and black and white for you to print/share as you wish.

As well as the standard prints, people are increasingly looking to expand on just the album prints.

Also available are;

• Canvas-Bonded Prints - These are beautiful and look amazing on any wall. They are available up to A1 in size, stretched, wrapped and mounted onto a wooden frame. Maximum price is €495 for an A1 or 34" x 24" print.


• Extra DVD Slideshows - Available for €125 each.


• Wedding Books - Rather than the traditional albums, all prints can be made into a beautiful, stylish and unique designer paperback or hardback book (10" x 10") containing up to 200 glossy images and given in a beautiful presentation box. Prices and different sizes available on request.

• Proof Album - A popular way of having the entire day in print is to have 300 images from the day laid out in order in a proof album (as long as the day is long enough for me to get 300 shots or more). These are all 6" x 4" for a total cost of €600. That is a saving of €900 on the normal re-print price of €5 per print!
