Video and Audio but...

I intend to use one to augment or replace my XH-A1, but only if I can find a way to control audio levels. I don't want the camera to boost the audio level during quiet moments.

I wonder if there might be a way to synch up an external audio device, maybe by recording the audio/video to a hard drive and reading the frame numbers like time code or creating time code from the frame numbers to control an external sound recording system.
