Property Photography Lighting Equipment - Getting a good start up kit
Q.
Just to say a huge thank you for the online property photography book. It was most informative and exactly the kind of read I was looking for. Could you possibly point me in the right direction for a lighting setup for a beginner level with options to expand? I wish to photograph property as discussed in the book.
I currently own a 5D and 24-70L, a tripod but now need the lights? Umbrellas? And stands? Leads etc.

For lighting, I use 3 x Elinchrom Esprit 500´s but a company called Alien Bees also make good starter set ups that are well priced. Try Googling "Alien Bees studio lights".
Have a look at this page at Warehouse Express...there are a couple of good kits on there, or you could make up your own.

All you need is two 500watt (or more) lights, two stands and two translucent brollies of softboxes. The great thing is that you can use these lighting kits for portraits and product/stock photography too!
The make or model doesn't matter so much, it is how you control the light output and camera settings and that takes practice.
BTW, the 5D and 24-70L is a great set up. I hardly ever take that lens off my 5D!
