Abstract/Still Life Photography

I had just received the Sigma 105mm F2.8 Macro lens and was keen to test it to the extremes. This shot was a really simple set up in our living room with just a 500 Bowens studio light with softbox
attached.
The background was simply part of an old painting that I was using to prevent the milk from splashing onto our table as it has a Perspex covering; it actually came out quite effective.
I got in close for the shot and ended up taking around 60 shots as it was quite difficult to get the effect I was after. I used the Canon remote release and a split second after I released a drop of milk from and "eyedropper" tool, I fired away.
I used a very small aperture as I wanted the depth of field to be enough to get the entire bowl in focus and when using telephoto macro lenses, you generally get very little DOF. The shutter speed at 250th was on the limit for "freezing" the milk in action but was the best I could do using studio lights.
I added the lettering in Photoshop later just for fun but ended up quite liking it so I have included in my wee portfolio!
Exposure: 250th/sec F36
ISO: 100
