Commercial Photography

This shot was part of a series to be used to promote a new development of properties being built in southern Spain. The promoter wanted to portray the lifestyle, weather and luxuries of living or investing in Spain.
I wanted to keep the shot simple as it was meant to compliment and enhance the brochure and not distract the viewer from what the constructors were promoting.
We sat Liz at the edge of the pool, facing the sun and I filled the background with the blue water for simplicity. The fact that a shadow of a nearby palm tree ended up in the shot is purely coincidental and fortunate, I won't lie and say it was pre-determined ; )
I needed a large aperture to put the background out of focus and used an ISO of 100 for the "cleanest" quality. This meant we were bordering on the cameras fastest shutter speed at 4000th/sec. One way around this possible problem would be to use a polarizing filter to "slow" things down a bit.
For anyone interested, this is how the brochure turned out.

Exposure: 4000th/sec F2.5
ISO: 100
