I quite like this photo, but then I would, it is my darling wife! After reading so many good reviews on Canon's EF 50mm F1.4 lens, I had just received it from Amazon and wanted to test it immediately. My wife and I were in fine fettle (good moods) after just putting our baby son to bed so I set up the softbox lighting with just one studio light, and asked her to be "a model" for a bit. She was a little nervous and I said "Go on, do the model thing and throw your hair back"! With such a slow shutter speed of 60th/sed, I was surprised that the hair wasn't more blurry. For me personally, the shot reminds me of when our son was still a new born to us and things were a little simpler (and quieter) now that he is into the terrible twos! That is what photography is about for me. To be able to look through all my favourite pics when I am nearing "that time" and instantly be taken back to those golden years is important to me. Even now when I look at photos from the 1980's, it brings back memories of things I had long forgotten. Get out and keep clicking away! Oh yes, the lens. It was and still is one of my favourite lenses. The quality of the EF 50mm 1.4 is second to none (fell from my pocket onto a stone church floor, no damage) and the "image" quality is fantastic. There is no reason why this lens shouldn't have a nice, red L on it somewhere. (L lenses are Canon's top-of-the-range lenses). One last thing, if you ever think about upgrading your lighting equipment from the standard speedlight to studio gear, get a softbox to attach to the flash head...you will not be disappointed! ![]() |
