Some Of The World's Most Popular Photo Magazines For You
Ever since I can remember, I have read photography magazines. From the age of about 12 when I first played with a real SLR camera, the Olympus OM-1, I was hooked and wanted to absorb everything I could about photography.
I would earn my pocket money by doing chores around the house (washing up - 5 pence, vacuuming - 10 pence and so on) and used that money to buy the most popular photo magazines that were available in the 1980's, being Practical Photography and Amateur Photographer at the time.
I would spend hours reading all the articles, then I would go out with my new Chinon CM4-s and practice what I had read with most of the results coming out pretty poor...it didn't matter!
I would then look at the ads and daydream about all the gear and accessories...and every now and again I would buy a cable release, lens hood, new type of film or some other piece of kit I had been saving for.
Nowadays with the internet, I thought I wouldn't use magazines so much but the huge pile of glossies in the corner of the office says different. I still love reading articles, getting inspired by other people's work and yes, I still drool over all that lovely new kit!
If you are looking to immerse yourself into your photography, make it happen by keeping the magazine trade alive by taking out a photography magazine subscription or two below. It is a great feeling when the photo magazine plops through your door on a Saturday morning and you can kiss a large chunk of that day goodbye as you delve into the glossy pages!
