ATP Photography Holidays and Tutorials in Spain

The one-week holidays will be held once a month throughout the year and organised by Nick Stubbs, the author and owner of All Things Photography.

Being in such a popular and sunny geographical location, the possibilities for varied and challenging photography are endless, from the beautiful, white sandy beaches of Tarifa on the Costa de la Luz, to the cobbled backstreets of the many traditional Spanish towns and pueblos.

The holidays/tutorials will cover a wide range of topics and subjects, depending on the time of year, and will hopefully cater for everybody's tastes. Your time will be spent either out on location or in the studio or editing room.

This is your chance to enjoy a relaxing break in one of the sunniest parts of Europe, whilst brushing up on your photography skills in the company of like-minded souls.

The itineries for the year are yet to be finalised but we are looking to include the following (please note that some locations will be dependant on seasons, i.e. skiing and beaches):

• Tangiers - A day in Africa
• Beaches - For landscapes, lifestyle and sports
• Granada - Historic Town at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountain range with the world famous Alhambra Palace
• Sierra Nevada - Europe's most southerly ski resort. (Possibility of hiring some model skiers/snowboarders for the day). Or just have a days skiing!
• Marbella Old Town - Historic Town
• Nerja Caves - A beautiful area with one of Spain's largest and most impressive cave structures (bring a tripod).
• Ronda - Steeped in history with the famous 200 year old "Puente Nuevo" (New Bridge) that separates the old town from the new.
• Ojen, Casares or Gaucin - Each one an original and traditional Spanish Pueblo town.
• Gibraltar - Historical rock under British rule for 300 years separating Spain from Africa. Check out the local Barbary Apes, the superb views of two continents and Gibraltar's own impressive caves.
• Puerto Banus - Spend time at this beautiful port loved by the rich and famous. Shoot café scenes, people and the impressive "millionaires row" of yachts and ships, all with the fabulous backdrop of "La Concha", Marbella's very own mountain.

The tutorials listed below are part of the weeks itinery but will also include many other aspects as the week progresses with "as they happen" situations.

• Studio Work - Still life and portraits with in-house model for a day.
• Stock Photography - Learn how to get started or improve your current stock photography portfolio.
• Composition/Exposure - Learn to improve on two of the most important aspects of photography.
• Wedding Photography - Tips and tutorials on how to break into this lucrative career.
• Photoshop - Learn some of the more basic functions such as workflow, editing and printing as well as the more challenging aspects of this powerful tool.
• The Business - Getting started on the road to being a full-time professional can be tough. We cover the basics to give you a strong foundation for a good future.

Photography Holidays and Tutorials in Spain - Accommodation

You will stay at the Costa Galera Country Club situated between the ports of Estepona and Duquesa and just a 2 minute walk to the beach.

The accommodation is a 4 bedroom duplex penthouse with 3 bathrooms and 5 large terraces. It has air-conditioning (hot/cold), Sky satellite TV, ADSL, fully equipped kitchen and 3 comfortable double bedrooms (one en-suite), and a small single.

The apartment is self-catering but includes a welcome meal and end of week feast at a traditional Spanish restaurant with entertainment, recognitions and prizes. We will also have a constant stock of the essentials such as bread, cereal, beer, wine, tea, coffee etc, included in the price.

The on site Country Club has an abundance of facilities (separate charges apply) including:

• Golf area with driving range, 3 practice holes, putting green and tuition.
• Restaurant/Bar.
• Library with card tables and Sky satellite TV.
• Gymnasium.
• Sauna/steam rooms.
• Health fitness centre with treatment rooms/massage service.
• Swimming pools - One indoor, 6 outdoor.
• Aerobics classes.
• Jacuzzis and hot-tubs.
• Aromatic, herbal showers.
• Changing rooms.
• Summer "Beach Bar" and restaurant.

The week will be split alternately with one day on location and one day in the studio (with a minimum of 4 excursions) and each month will differ slightly with regards to the excursions available.

A "free" day may also be included for you to do as you please, make use of the studio or country club or visit a location of your choice.

Please note: We are only accepting group bookings of 3 people or more.

1. Single photographer occupying a double room for the week - €950
2. 2 photographers sharing - €750 each
3. 1 photographer plus one non photographer:
Photographer - €750
Non Photographer - €500

• Includes airport transfers to and from Malaga or Gibraltar (Gibraltar is closer).
• Flights and Insurance not included.
• Maximum 6 people, although more accommodation is available if required.

As I mentioned before, all of the above is provisional and may change throughout 2006. This, for now, is to simply gauge interest and receive enquiries. The actual weeks will be finalised before the end of this year.

These tutorials are aimed at the "advanced beginner" to intermediate/semi-pro although all are welcome. When making an enquiry, please let us know a little about yourself, i.e, camera equipment used, favourite style of photography, level of experience, desires etc.

If you are looking to "fine tune" your photography skills or business acumen, or even just get started, places will be limited, so get in touch now. Once booked, we will send you a full itinery for the week with all details for the month in which you have booked.

The accommodation is also available for family or group holidays throughout the rest of the year. The itineries will be left for any photographers wishing to take advantage. Camera clubs welcome. Please contact us for pricing details.
