Implement these things and your business will flourish and thrive!
Have you ever had a service or product sold to you or given to you that makes you simply feel good about it, one that makes you feel that you made the right decision?
Before we go into that, here are a couple of examples of what I mean.
Our car broke down a couple of years ago and we took it to a local garage that was recommended to us. The bill came to a lot more than I expected but we just thought that was just the way it was. A few months later, we took the car back with another problem and again the quote was super high so we declined their offer.
To be honest, the “gut” feeling I got from the business was never that good. Whether it was the attitude of the people there or what I don’t know but it never felt “good” to do business with them and we have never been back.
The next garage we took the car to gave us a much lower quote and a much more pleasant experience. Not only that, they did a bit of extra work (silly little things that cost next to nothing) free of charge…that went a long way, and the attitude of the garage owner was exceptional.
We have been back there twice since with the same problem (yes, we need a new car I think) and each time the service has been exactly the same and once again, on one of the visits, there was no charge as the problem was a recurring one.
It finally came about that it was the KEY electronics playing with the electrics and nothing to do with the car itself!!!
Now, even though that garage has given us their services for little to no money on a couple of occasions, I can guarantee that they will make a lot more money from us over the years than the previous garage, plus we will definitely recommend them to others.
The moral is to offer not only a quality service, but to give more than expected with truly good spirit. If you do, it will pay dividends eventually.
Another one is our fabulous local curry house. They have implemented a telephone system whereby as soon as they answer the phone, they know who you are and your address and they deliver anywhere within 10 miles free of charge by cheerful employees and they even throw in a couple of freebies (and the food is outstanding).
They totally understand the value of keeping their existing customers happy as opposed to looking for new ones as there is a lot of competition around believe me. They are rushed off their feet every day of the week and I always tip the delivery guy.
Quality, Quantity and Spirit.
You should try your absolute best, in fact you should make it essential, to follow their example. Treat all of your clients the same way, every time you deal with them and they will always come back to you.
Give more than they are expecting in both your service and attitude, make the quality of every aspect of your business with them better each time (at the very least, consistent) and keep the spirit in which you deliver your service impeccable.
A pleasing personality when you are a sole trader is a must…you are everything to your business from CEO/Managing Director to delivery boy or girl.
Studies have shown, from the last century at least, that more than 90% of people lack a definite goal or aim in life possibly due to either an unfavourable hereditary background, lack of ambition or self discipline, lack of enthusiasm or effort, negative personality, insufficient education…
In fact there are more than 30 reasons why most people don’t rise above what is described as “mediocrity” or the 9 to 5 lifestyle…sad but true so don’t be in the majority if you really want to get ahead…there is room for all entrepreneurs out there!
