Dealing with Underexposed Images

Emily at just 15, has a great modelling career ahead of her. On this photograph, the studio lights did not fire, and the image was seriously underexposed. Using Photoshop, I managed to pull back the features, lighten it up and when converted to B and W, looked fantastic.
Sometimes, with a little help and guidance, and the right software, you can turn what you thought was a disaster into not only a keeper, but what turned out to be a favourite of both myself AND Emily's parents! You can read more on these Photoshop tips on the Photoshop hints and tips page. This is now a massive A1 canvas print on Emilys parents' wall!
Now this is something I wouldn't normally do, and would CERTAINLY never show to the client.
This is the original photograph of Emily.
As you can see it is well under-exposed, but of this particular sequence of shots, this was one of the nicest with regard to expression and composition.
