Alamy Stock PhotographersCalling all Alamy stock photographers!
I have been with Alamy since 2004 and love their format, layout and business acumen in general. They have a great reputation, a huge library of images and I seem to see their images in every magazine I read! Obviously I want to help promote my own images there as well as Alamy in general, along with all the other Alamy stock photographers out there that have some stunning images which are almost hidden from view. The main problem for many amateur, semi pro or even professional Alamy stock photographers is that no matter how good your images are, you are still competing with more than 10,000,000 other images. I wasn't receiving the volume of sales that I had hoped for, even with a reasonable amount of images online (500+). So I started to promote a few on this site and sales started to trickle in. Then, a couple of months ago I built a full on page on Spanish Stock Photography with thumbnails linking directly to each sales page at Alamy, and all of a sudden my images started to sell even more.
You can see on the list of sales below that after I had started to "self-promote" my images, sales started happening. ![]() Whether or not this is due to their hosting on this site I can't say for sure, but it seems quite a coincidence. I have tracked the click-through rate to Alamy from this site and it would certainly appear to be the case. This site, All Things Photography, now has a very good standing with most of the major search engines. Each specific keyworded page that I built for my own stock images was almost instantly rocketed to the first page of results in Google and MSN and more often than not, at number 1 or 2! For example, type "stock photography puerto banus" in Google and we are currently number 2 of more than 14,000. The same goes for "stock photography Marbella" or "stock photography spain". Also, more broadly worded terms such as "Spanish stock photography" is coming in at 3rd out of nearly 6 million results. The point of my ramblings is this. If you are an Alamy stock photographer and have a specific batch of good looking images relating to a single topic or location, we can build a keyword focussed page for you and you alone that will attract those buyers looking for that particular topic. So, do you have 100 or more stock images of Paris in France, or Canadian ski resorts and lifestyle images? Maybe you have a huge library of stunning wildlife images that you wish to promote? You can either opt for a page similar to this... Stock Photography of Spanish Beaches ...where you can have 100 thumbnail images all leading to your own sales page at Alamy. The page will also have a small write up on the photographer with a link to your entire portfolio. Or just have a simple keyword focussed page that leads to your own gallery at Alamy using, for example, the hidden search term "Nicholas Stubbs Spain", which lands the buyer at Alamy but only brings up your Spanish images, no-one else's... Spanish Stock PhotographyThe main benefits of hosting your Alamy images at our site, is that each section is partitioned to one photographer and one subject. A buyer could land directly on your page here via the search engines and instantly like what he sees, and hopefully continue to use more of your images in the future as we can also have a link to your entire portfolio at Alamy on the same page. We also hope that as time goes by and as the library at All Things Photography expands, we will be bookmarked by more and more agencies, magazines and designers who like the fact that each section or topic has been covered by just one Alamy stock photographer with no duplicates or repeated images, and which also has an easy to navigate directory. It is possible that a photographer could also be called upon for separate assignments in their area of expertise or location; the possibilities are most definitely there. So what are we charging to host Alamy stock photographers' images? A fully keyworded and web-optimised page with up to 100 thumbnails leading to individual sales pages at Alamy is just €195 Euros per year. This covers the work required to get the images up and running and to ensure that your specific page and topic gets seen. Each second or third 100-image page after that is just €95 Euros per year for the same photographer, so 200 images is €290 Euros per year. This means that you need to sell just one high resolution image per year per 200 hosted to make it worth your while. Of course, it is free to host them at Alamy but your images are that much harder to find. For a smaller, yet equally keyword focussed page with a simple link to your "topic-related" portfolio at Alamy, we charge just €95 Euros per year and may still include a few of your images for reference. Your portfolio "landing page" at Alamy must have a minimum amount of 100 images relating to that specific topic. Whilst we can't guarantee that this will increase your sales at Alamy, we have tried and tested it ourselves with some relative success. After all, the more exposure your work gets, the more sales you should receive, it only stands to reason. The click through rate to stock images at Alamy is the highest click through on the site. All Things Photography currently receives over 100,000 unique visitors per month with 250,000 page views (and growing) with the buying stock photography pages in the top 25 out of 740 pages. If you are interested in us hosting your images at All Things Photography, please in the first instance, fill in the enquiry form below. We will then contact you with payment details and a request for more information if necessary. Please Note: Images are hosted at the above prices for a minimum of one year but can be removed at any time via written request. Also, please ensure that your images are keyworded at Alamy with the relevant terms in order for us to find them. We need to type, for example, "Nicholas Stubbs Beach Spain" to bring up all images for that topic. What do you have to lose compared to any gains you may receive? Get in touch and give it a try for a year! In the future, we may also consider work from people other than Alamy stock photographers.
