November 7, 2008 08:22 - DSLR Course 10th Jan 2009
Stuck for ideas for Christmas pressies this year?
Why not pay for someone you know to come on one of our 1-day Digital SLR courses early next year!
Do you know someone who has recently bought a Digital SLR but is struggling with the settings and switches? Are you about to buy someone a DSLR for Xmas and are concerned it may be too much of a "leap" for them?
There is nothing that gets me more than to see people getting hold of these wonderful bits of photography kit only to use them on full auto or worse still, switch back to using their trusty old point and shoot!
DSLR's have so much power and creativity locked away inside them that many people never realise is there. So if Santa is going to be nice to someone close to you this year and bring them a shiny new DSLR, why not treat them to a short course on how to unlock the inner artist in them and teach them how to get the most from their lovely new digital camera!
They will learn...
- Camera modes - Auto, aperture priority, shutter priority, manual, sports, landscape, close up, portrait
- Everyday shooting - What to look for and how to shoot it
- Black and White Photography - Timeless!
- Composition - Don't just stand there! Learn how to "see" a photo just about anywhere!
- Lenses - You have the ability to add just about any lens to your new camera, you now need to understand what you need and why
- Lighting - Probably the single most important aspect of any art form
- Flash photography - Understand how the light works and how you can control it
- Digital Imaging - Touching on uploading to a PC and using Photoshop/other editing software
- Cleaning and maintenance - With DSLR's comes dust. Plus you may find yourself getting down and dirty now that you know what to do to get those special shots
Next Course Date: Saturday 10th January - Digital SLR Course Info
November 7, 2008 08:51 - Photo Recovery Software
Lost photos? Deleted files? Crashed hard drive? Formatted memory card?
No worries!
If you have ever had that sinking, gut wrenching feeling when you either have a faulty hard drive or hit the wrong button and delete/format all files from your cameras memory card...you will love this.
If you haven't had that feeling yet, the longer you are a photographer, the closer you are to having it happen to you!
It happened to me during a wedding a few years ago and I lost around 50 images of the most crucial part of the day (the ceremony) when I dropped an external hard drive on a hard surface surrounding a swimming pool! My heart was pounding!!!
Luckily I knew of software that could retrieve those images...just, and it took some time to do as well as it was early days for this type of software back then.
Also, when erasing images from within a camera, there is sometimes an option to "erase all" which is far to easy to do by accident, especially when you are in a hurry and I am sure there are many people that have done that too!
Now there is a new program I have just tried out and and I am extremely impressed with the ease of use and power behind it. Check out the short video below to see how easy and powerful it is. Oh, and it won't cost you an arm and a leg for that security either!
